ENGLISH I
This course uses the Odell Curruculum to provide foundational coursework around mastery of reading informational and fictional texts, as well using writing as a method to broaden analytical thinking skills. Students will engage in collaboration, reflection, and creation to develop the skills in this course.

Pre-AP English 1 focuses on reading, writing, and language skills that are relevant to students’ current work and essential for students' future to future high school and college coursework.

ENGLISH II

PRE-AP ENGLISH II
Pre-AP English 2 builds on the foundations of Pre-AP English 1. While English 1 introduces the fundamentals of close observation, critical analysis, and the appreciation of author’s craft, English 2 requires students to apply those practices to a new array of nonfiction and literary texts.

ENGLISH III
This course uses the Odell Curriculum to build on the foundational coursework in English I&II. Informational and Fictional texts will present deepened challenges for students to learn through collaboration, reflection, and creation. Students will work to refine their reading and writing skills through a variety of experiences.

Informational and Fictional texts will present opportunities for students to learn through collaboration, reflection, and creation. AP LANGUAGE & COMPOSITION
AP English Language and Composition is an introductory college-level composition course. Students cultivate their understanding of writing and rhetorical arguments through reading, analyzing, and writing texts as they explore topics like rhetorical situation, claims and evidence, reasoning and organization, and style.

AP LITERATURE
AP English Literature and Composition is an introductory college-level literary analysis course. Students cultivate their understanding of literature through reading and analyzing texts as they explore concepts like character, setting, structure, perspective, figurative language, and literary analysis in the context of literary works.

DUAL CREDIT ENGLISH 101
This course focuses on academic writing including drafting and revising essays. Instruction is focused on critical reading, logical thinking, analysis of texts, and correct grammar usage. Research and appropriate citation of sources is also covered. Notes: (a) credit not available by special examination; (b) English 101 and 102 may not be taken concurrently; ( c ) AP credit in the English Language and Composition category for ENG 101 awarded as indicated by AP scoring chart in current KCTCS catalog. DUAL CREDIT ENGLISH 102
This course focuses on argumentative writing including further instruction in drafting and revising essays. Instruction is a continuation of skills covered in ENG 101 involving reading, writing, analysis, grammar, research, and source documentation. Note: Credit is not available by special examination. DUAL CREDIT ENGLISH 161

JOURNALISM & MEDIA PRODUCTION
In this course, students will work on various projects that support school culture, community outreach, and family communication. Students will take part in projects like creating the school Yearbook, developing school social media content, producing articles for a school forum, and various other communication and media-based experiences.
