WHO MAY PARTICIPATE IN A PROFESSION-BASED EXPERIENCE?
All seniors are encouraged to participate in the experience for high school credit. Credits may vary from 1-5 credits toward high school graduation. Experiences may be paid or unpaid.
***Select juniors qualify for a PBE (Profession Based Experience) based on two different sets of criteria. If you are interested in this opportunity please check the box with the criteria you meet.
Co-Op: You have completed four (4) pathway courses by the end of the 2025-2026 school year, in the same pathway OR have completed three (3) pathways courses and will be enrolled in the 4th during the fall 2026-2027 school year. This placement should be aligned to your pathway.
Junior PBE: Junior students who are on track to graduate by the end of their junior year AND meet the following criteria…
Have three (3) math, english, history, and science credits
Have one (1) fine arts and health & PE credit
Have a 3.2 GPA and maintain this GPA (or better) throughout the year
Share a PBE presentation with a TNHS administrator, counselor, and workforce LEADER demonstrating how Junior PBE aligns with their Future Story in a way traditional instruction does not.
Agrees to take a PBE seminar class in 2026-2027
4 or less Unexcused absences
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN A PBE?
Student schedules will be adjusted to best meet the needs of the experience. Students may choose from a ½ day or a full day experience based on their personal needs, employer needs and graduation requirements.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS?
Quarterly Contributor Connects
Students will lead 3-4 sites visits per year where they will connect with a high school workforce leader and their employer to discuss celebrations and opportunities for growth.
Students are evaluated by the SkilIUP Progression where students & employers reflect on their abilities and skills as contributors, communicators and critical thinkers.
Reflections & Assignments
All students participating need to complete a Docusign/Plan & Agreement for their employer BEFORE working during the school day.
Each student will enroll in the PBE Google Classroom. Students will complete one quarterly project as it aligns to their experience and showcase.
Students will also submit weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly hours worked at their PBE.
EXPLORE COMMUNITY-BASED WORK OPPORTUNITIES
NCS will offer job shadowing experiences and mock interviews. Students & families are encouraged to explore opportunities on their own.
APPLY, INTERVIEW, SECURE POSITION
Students may participate in Community Connect with employers and explore possible partners & positions.
CONNECT WITH WORKFORCE LEADER & LINK TO IMBLAZE
Once students confirm placement, connect with workforce leaders.
COMPLETE WBL PLAN & AGREEMENT
