CROSS COUNTRY
FIRST PRACTICE: JULY 15
Cross Country is a uniquely individual sport with a strong team component. At Thomas Nelson, athletes pursue personal growth while contributing to a tradition of excellence. Our program welcomes students of all experience levels and interests.
TNHS Cross Country ranks as the #5 all-time Class 2A team and holds the two fastest Class 2A team performances in Kentucky history.
Practice will be held from 4:30-6PM once school starts. First official practice will be August 13th. Races are on Saturdays with varying start times.

Football develops teamwork, leadership, and resilience both on and off the field. Through dedication and preparation, students build character while representing their school and community with pride.
During the season, varsity football practices are held Monday–Thursday after school. Monday practices run 3:30–5PM (JV game days), Tuesday and Wednesday are 3:30–5:30PM, and Thursday is 3:30–5PM Varsity games are played on Fridays, with players off on Saturdays and Sundays.
GOLF
FIRST PRACTICE: JULY 15
Golf challenges players to develop focus, confidence and discipline in this co-ed sport.
Before school starts, practices are held Monday–Wednesday from 4:30–7:00PM.
Once school begins, practices are Monday–Thursday from 4:30–7:00PM Matches are typically played on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30PM., with no practice on match days.
BOYS SOCCER
FIRST PRACTICE: JULY 15
Boys Soccer helps develop key skills while learning the importance of communication, perseverance and working together as a team.
During the school year, practices are held Monday–Thursday from 4:30–6PM. Games are typically played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with JV matches beginning at 6PM and varsity matches following at 7:30PM.

BASS FISHING
FIRST PRACTICE: JULY 18
ONCE A WEEK PRACTICE/MEET
Anglers must have access to a boat with an adult captain, proper insurance, and meet all state and federal safety requirements. Students provide their own gear and tackle. Tournament fees are covered through team fundraising.
4 of the past 5 years we have had at least 1 team qualify to compete in the National Tournament!
FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football combines skill, strategy and teamwork in a fast-paced competitive environment.

MARCHING BAND / COLOR GUARD
BAND CAMP IN SUMMER // PRACTICE TUES & THURS 3:30PM - 5:30PM
The marching band program performs at all home football games and participates in three parades. Marching band concludes when football season is over.
Band is open to everyone regardless of expereience level. It is highly recommended to enroll in school band course
CHEERLEADING
FIRST PRACTICE: FEB. 15
Cheerleading combines teamwork, commitment and school spirit through athletic performance and competition. Season ends after the final basketball game. State Championship is typically held the third week of March.
Summer (June–July): Weekly practices at ACE Gym (8:00–10:00 a.m.) and mandatory cheer camp.
Preseason (August): Practices Tuesday–Thursday.
Football Season: Practices Tuesday–Wednesday; games on Fridays.
Basketball Season: Schedule varies, typically up to three evenings per week.
Tryouts: Held in late April or early May for the following school year. Tryouts include two open gym sessions to learn the required material, followed by a final evaluation of cheer, dance, jumps, tumbling, and spirit.
